Suggestions

This is just an area where I will put down some ideas or suggestions about character creation. Things or concepts that I think may be useful to the campaign and the group. Please do not take any of this a requirement. This is just help if you are having creative brain block or are still a little unsure of what will fit in or work in my campaign world.

It will be important to have some sort of research person or people. I will also be important to have them have the access to information to search through. You can have a contact or two with appropriate libraries to search through. You can also spend some points on a library of your a own. I suppose it would be a Perk. You could do this individually or pool your points as a groups. Figure 5 points is a very beginner's library on researching the dark and forbidding and 50 points is huge with many rare, ancient, disturbing, yet useful books. On a modern twist you could be working on putting these dark tomes of forbidden knowledge into an easily accessible database.

One thing to keep in mind when creating that research type person is that you still will get into combat. Even Guiles and Wesley Price were needed to fight the big bads when it came down to it. So, don't be a complete wimp.

Having more then one person with Paramedics skill is really a must. Also having someone with real medical training(professional skill Doctor) would come in handy as well. No healing potions you know.

If you want to dabble in magic or at least be knowledgable in it, talk to me. I will tell you the basics and the main dangers. What might be cast with limited danger and what is just not recomended.

Starting out with some contacts and/or favors really will be important in this campaign. Everyone doesn't need, but some people should. Yes, it is quite fun to develope your own contacts through role-playing(and it doesn't cost points), but having a couple to get you started will be quite useful.

Buying a follower(perk) can be nice too. Someone you can trust. Someone with some useful skills or contacts. I would even let the group pool some points for one. I might even allow some little strange abilities if you wanted to get creative with the background. Maybe the follower is part demon or something.

One of the big differences between this campaign and the Buffy and Angel series is guns and other modern technology. It is modern day and there is no way that some of the bad guys would not make use of at least some of the basic things like guns. However, if you still like being the old school sword, stake, or bow master, fighting old school, there are enough helpful feats to make you a very lethal force indeed. In fact many vampires just enjoy the toe to toe better becuase of their beastial nature. And many demons are just old school, because that is who they are. But... Guess what happens when a former navy seal gets turned into a vampire...

How much of a normal life you are still trying to keep is up to you. All sorts of fun plot stuff there. Maybe you are even still trying to keep a normal job.

Why did you decide to start fighting the vampires and other assorted bad things? That is an endless list of possibilites. Vampires kill friend of family and in the process of hunting the vampire you realised there was a lot more then just one. Now you hunt to protect the rest of you family. Maybe everyone you care for was killed by the vamps and you are just striking out to fill the emptiness or for just plain burning revenge. Maybe you had always done occult research and somehow you realised that it wasn't all just stories. Maybe your parents were part of some secret society and... on and on...
