Disadvantages


Disadvantages are character weaknesses, personal complications, hinderances, or general drawbacks. Things like phobias, dependence to a certain substance, dependent NPCs, being hunted or watched, missing a limb, and so on. You are required to have a 50 points worth.


Disadvantages
Name Description
Age A character with this disadvatage is older then the average character. Old enough that some of his physical characteristics have a lower Human Max then the norm. Talk to me for the exact levels. You can be in one of the following age categories and not take this disadvantage. You are a surprisingly spry 50 year old, for example.

  • 5 points - 40 years or older.
  • 10 points - 60 years or older.
Dependence The character is dependent on a certain substance or item. The effects suffered when deprived of the substance varies from damage to penalties for skills. Here is how to determine the points.

How easy to get substance or item.
  • 5 points - Very common
  • 10 points - Common
  • 15 points - Uncommon

Effect per time increment.
  • 5 points- 1d6 stun damage
  • 10 points - 2d6 stun damage
  • 15 points - 3d6 stun damage
  • 5 points - -1 to all skills(including combat)
  • 5 points - -3 to all characteristics

Time Increment.
  • 25 points - Per segment
  • 20 points - Per phase
  • 15 points - Per turn
  • 10 points - Per minute
  • 5 points - Per 5 minutes
  • 0 points - Per 20 minutes
  • -5 points - Per 1 hour
  • -10 points - Per 6 hours
  • -15 points - Per 1 day
Dependent NPC A character with this disadvantage has a friend, significant other, fan, or whoever that he feels he must protect. Points depend on 3 categories.

Competence.
  • 5 points - Is a normal person
  • 0 points - Is a trained normal, but weaker then the character
  • -5 points - NPC is near the same level as the character.

How often the NPC tends to get into trouble.
  • 5 points - Infrequently
  • 10 points - Occasionally
  • 15 points - Frequently

Number.
  • 5 points - The dependent is a group or organization, instead of an individual
Distinctive Feature The character has some distinctive physical feature or mannerism that is unusual and distinctive. The points are determined by 2 catagories.

Concealability.
  • 5 points - Easily concealed
  • 10 points - Concealable with a skill or effort
  • 15 points - Not concealable

Reaction of the average person.
  • 0 points - Just recognizes
  • 5 points - Notices and causes a major reaction
  • 10 points - Notices and causes an extreme reaction

Enraged/Berserk The character tends to get very angry and/or lose control when confronted with certain circumstances or stimuli. The character must define the set of circumstances. Enraged indicates that the character becomes very angry and must take action. Berserk indicates that the character completely looses control to the point of not knowing who is friend or foe. Points are determined by 4 catagories.

  • 0 points - Enraged
  • 10 points - Berserk

How common the circumstance.
  • 5 points - Uncommon
  • 10 points - Common
  • 15 points - Very common

Chance to become enraged when confronted with the situation.
  • 0 points - 8- roll
  • 5 points - 11- roll
  • 10 points - 14- roll

Chance to recover when the main stimulus is dealt with.
  • 0 points - 14- roll
  • 5 points - 11- roll
  • 10 points - 14- roll
Hunted The character is pursued by a individual or group. The points are determined by 3 catagories.

Capabilities of hunter(s).
  • 5 points - Less powerful then character
  • 10 points - As powerful as character
  • 15 points - More powerful then character
  • 5 points - Hunter has extensive non-combat influence

How often the hunter tries to hunt or mess with the Character.
  • 0 points - Occasionally
  • 5 points - Frequently
  • 10 points - Very Frequently

Motivation.
  • -10 points - The hunter typically only watches or keeps track of the character
  • -5 points - The hunter wishes only to mildly punish or annoy the character
  • 0 points - The hunter wishes to harshly punish or kill the character
Physical Limitation The character has some physical abnormality that limits and hampers him(missing a leg, blind, bad back, etc). The points are determined by 2 catagories.

How often the limitation affects the characters life.
  • 5 points - Infrequently
  • 10 points - Frequently
  • 15 points - All the time

How greatly the limitation impairs.
  • 0 points - Slightly impairs
  • 5 points - Greatly impairs
  • 10 points - Fully impairs
Phychological Limitation The character has a mental quirk or impairment with a certain thing or situation. The points are determined by 2 catagories.

How often the situation happens.
  • 5 points - Uncommon
  • 10 points - Common
  • 15 points - Very common

Intensity of limitation.
  • 0 points - Moderate ( a roleplaying thing)
  • 5 points - Strong ( must make an ego roll not to follow the limitation)
  • 10 points - Total (must always follow limitation)
Reputation The character has a negative reputation.

How often the character is recognized.
  • 5 points - 8- roll
  • 10 points - 11- roll
  • 15 points - 14- roll

  • 5 points - If the reputation is extreme
Rivalry The character is part of a not so friendly rivalry. Points are determined in 3 catagories.

Situation.
  • 5 points - Professional or romantic
  • 10 points - Professional and romantic

Rival's power and/or authority.
  • -5 points - Rival is less powerfull or has less authority
  • 5 points - Rival is more powerful or has more authority
  • 10 points - Rival is significantly more powerful or has significantly more authority

Fierceness.
  • 0 points - Rival seeks to outdo, embarrass, and humiliate
  • 5 points - Rival seeks to harm or kill
Social Limitation The character is somehow restricted in his ability to interact with society(secret identity, ex-convict, crazed fans, etc). Points determined by 2 catagories.

How often limitation occurs.
  • 5 points - Occasionally (8- roll)
  • 10 points - Frequently (11- roll)
  • 15 points - Very frequently (14-)

Level of restriction.
  • 0 points - Minor restriction ( inconvenient but no physical danger)
  • 5 points - Major restriction (potential injury or imprisonment)
  • 10 points - Severe restriction (possible death)
Unlucky The character is just naturally unlucky. This disadvantage is worth 5 points for every level of unluck. During certain instances of the GM's choosing, the character must roll the number of dice equal to his levels of unluck. Every 1 that is rolled counts as a level of unluck for that situation. The more 1's rolled the more unlucky things get.
